Identity and loyalty conflict

The silent emotional harm of divided loyalty and manipulated relationships.

Parental alienation occurs when a child is intentionally or repeatedly influenced to reject, fear, or distance themselves from a parent without justified reason. It places children in an emotional conflict they did not choose, forcing loyalty where love and connection should exist freely.

This dynamic can distort a child’s perception of relationships, create deep emotional confusion, and result in long-term identity and attachment challenges. The child becomes the casualty of adult conflict.

  • Children should never be used as emotional leverage. When relationships are manipulated, often during custody disputes, the harm is not between adults — it is carried by the child.
